What Energy and Health Mean

Energy is the “Ability to move or work ” Think of how you feel when you wake up in the morning. Do you really feel awake, or ready to go? Or do you feel like you can’t get out of bed, to do what you need to do. Energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity. Therefore, changes in vitamins, food, drink, exercise, and supplements, can affect our energy and well-being.

Health is the level of functional and metabolic efficiency of a living organism. World Health Organization defined human health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. It would not be merely the absence of sickness or disease.

Value of Human Health

Keeping with the biomedical perspective, early definitions of health focused on the theme of the body’s ability to function. Health was seen as a state of normal function that could be disrupted by sickness and disease. Health is a resource of everyday life, not the objective of living. It is a positive concept, emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities. Therefore, health referred to the ability to maintain homeostasis and recover from insults. Mental, intellectual, emotional, and social health referred to a person’s ability to handle stress, to acquire skills, to maintain relationships, all of which form resources for resiliency and independent living.


The context in which a person lives is of great importance for both their health status and quality of life. It is increasingly recognized that health is maintained and improved through advancement and application of health science, but also through efforts and intelligent lifestyle choices of the individual and society. The main determinants of health include the social and economic environment, physical environment, and a person’s characteristics and behaviors.

The concept of the “health field” as distinct from medical care, came from a “Lalonde” report from Canada. That report identified three interdependent fields as key determinants of an individual’s health.

  • LIFESTYLE: The aggregation of personal decisions, over which the individual has control, that can be said to contribute to better health, or cause illness or death.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL: All matters related to health external to the human body, and over which the person has very little or no control.
  • BIOMEDICAL: All aspects of health, physical and mental, developed within the human body as influenced by genetic make-up.

The maintenance and promotion of health is achieved through different combinations of physical, mental, and social well-being, together sometimes referred to as the “health triangle” Health is not just a state of being, but also a resource for everyday life. Not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.

Potential Issues

Lifestyle choices are contributing factors to poor health in many cases. These include smoking, poor diet, whether overeating or an overly constrictive diet. Inactivity can also contribute to health issues and also a lack of sleep, excessive alcohol consumption, and neglect of oral hygiene.

Though the majority of these health issues are preventable, a major contributor to global ill health is that approximately 1 billion people lack access to health care systems. The most common and harmful health issue is that many people don’t have access to quality remedies.

Examples include ( schizophrenia, ADHD, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and autism).


A healthy diet is an important way to maintain your health. Healthy diets include a variety of plant based and animal based foods which provide nutrients to you body. Good nutrients give you the energy to keep your body going strong. Nutrients help build and strengthen bones, muscles, regulate your blood pressure, and regulate body processes. Making healthy food choices is important in lowering your risk of heart disease, and your chances of getting cancer, and will contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.Energy Foods

Personal health depends partially on the active, passive, and assisted cures people observe and adapt to for their own health. Included in this is personal hygiene practices to prevent infection and illness. Eating the right foods, plenty of exercise, enough sleep, the right supplements for your body type.   1. Your article about health is very informative. My diet is eating low fat meats, vegetables, fiber based products such as whole wheat bread and cereal. Also I try to drink a lot of water because 60% of the body is made of water. I think my biggest problem now is that I don’t exercise enough. I prefer to walk everyday but living in cold or bad weather conditions some days it is hard to get motivated to go outside.
